Don Juan DeMarco stands atop a billboard and pledges to jump because he cannot be with his true love, Dona Inez. Jack Mickler, a psychiatrist, persuades him to change his mind. Mickler is given ten days to diagnose him and to recommend treatment. During their sessions, Don Juan DeMarco tells Mickler about his life story and his numerous encounters with women, including falling in love with Dona Inez. Forced to examine the importance of love and passion, Mickler rekindles the spark long lost in his marriage to Marilyn. Dr. Showalter wants to hospitalize DeMarco, but Mickler helps Don Juan DeMarco to face his real life and he is released.
