Life in Mexico is a selection of letters written by Madame Calderon during a two year residence in Mexico. Born in Edinburgh in 1804, she first traveled to Havana as wife of the first Spanish envoy to Mexico. In 1838 she remarried, to Don Angel Calderon de la Barca, Minister to Mexico, and her life in Mexico was published in London and Boston in 1943.
