Summary: Jerl Surratt’s poems have been published in The Amsterdam Quarterly, The Hopkins Review, Literary Imagination, The New Criterion, Washington Review, other journals and in two anthologies. Born in rural Texas, he moved early on to NYC where he worked as a writer for and advisor to local and national nonprofits providing early childhood education, health care and social services to disadvantaged populations, and legal aid and support services to the LGBTQ+ and PWA communities. He is a 2025 Pushcart Prize nominee in poetry and a past recipient of The Robinson Jeffers Foundation’s Tor House Prize for Poetry.
