Abstract: With one careless stroke of his sword, Simon of Cyrene goes from being a promising candidated for the Roman Legion to being a wanted murderer - a man who has killed a friend, a comrade in arms ... and the Roman consul's nephew. Simon flees into the desert, staying only a step ahead of his most avid pursuer - the Legionnaire who trained him and is now out for his blood. Simon's sojourn takes him, ultimately, to Jerusalem and to the foot of a cross on Golgotha.
