Summary: Since emerging as armed insurgency group from Mexico's Lacandon Jungle in 1994, the Zapatistas have constantly shifted their strategic focus in response to changing political conditions in Mexico. Their latest initiative is the Other Campaign, so named to indicate their opposition to and disdain for the Presidential electoral politics happening at the same time. As part of the Other Campaign, Zapatista spokesman Subcomandante Marcos and his compañeros have been traveling the country, seeking to forge connections with other indigenous and resistance groups. This volume contains the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle, explaining the rationale of the Other Campaign, and a short interview with Marcos himself, further elaborating. The texts are presented in both Spanish and English on facing pages.
