Richard Joseph Neutra was a Jewish Austrian-American architect. Living and building for the majority of his career in Southern California, he came to be considered among the most prominent and important modernist architects.
This 240-page volume surveys all of Neutra's architectural activities of the decade 1950-1960. The first section is devoted to twenty original California residences and apartment buildings. The second section treats of his diverse activities in designing schools, hotels, hospitals, churches, and such commercial and public buildings as the U.S. Embassy in Karachi, the Dayton Museum, and Adelphi College. The last section describes Neutras work in city planning in Guam, Sacramento, Venezuela, and Spain. In all, the book includes approximately 600 photographs, plans, and sketches. The text is in three languagesEnglish, German, and French.
