<br/><br/> Luis Omar Salinas was born in Robstown, Texas.  He was formally educated in Fresno, California.  His most famous work, "Crazy Gypsy," is recognized as the first  poem published by a Chicano in the United States. He has been honored by reading before the Library of Congress.
